Shining Light on MS

Significant Symptom Relief Using Light & PEMF Therapy.

What Is MS and How Does It Affect the Body?

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is known as an autoimmune, neuroinflammatory condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective myelin sheath around nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This disrupts signal transmission and can lead to:

  • Fatigue and brain fog
  • Pain, tingling, or numbness
  • Weak muscles and poor coordination
  • Mood swings/ anxiety / depression
  • Digestive problems and more.

Although there is still no cure, the good news is, there are things we can do to mitigate and relieve symptoms. Whether you choose prescription MS medication, or all natural therapies, or a combination of both, you have choices. Also, new research (April 2025) is unveiling links between MS and variances in the gut microbiome that is very promising for future natural and/or pharmaceutical remedies (see more below).

My MS Journey

Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can feel like being trapped in a body that no longer listens to us. We can feel betrayed by our own biology, and we carry the weight of uncertainty every day. Chronic fatigue, pain, brain fog, and mobility struggles often becomes part of our daily life.

After diagnosis, most of us are referred to a neurologist who outlines immune-suppressing drugs and other medications to delay disease progression and manage symptoms while we wait—and hope—for a cure. For some, these treatments help. For many, they don’t. This isn’t just the MS story; it’s the reality for countless people living with chronic illness.

It’s been over 20 years since my MS diagnosis. While new drugs have emerged, a cure still feels distant. Conflicting views and advice between conventional and holistic medicine left me with more questions than answers. After a few years on immune-modulating drugs and multiple prescriptions, I realized I needed a different path. I chose to take charge of my health—supporting my body and immune system instead of just suppressing it.

With the help of Naturopaths and many other health and wellness practitioners, I started to wean off the meds and focus on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. My quest for wellness therapies eventually led me to a lesser-known therapy called Photobiomodulation (Red Light Therapy).

Trying this was the best decision I ever made.

Red Light Therapy has worked wonders for me. Although I am still working on mobility challenges, it relieved much of my chronic pain and fatigue. I regained my energy, felt clearer, stronger — more myself.

Over the course of just a few months, the changes were so profound that I was able to co-found this wellness clinic (Luminous Health Solutions) in order to share this life-changing therapy with others.

Red Light Therapy works at the cellular level to combat inflammation and promote natural healing. It works for almost any health ailment and is also being used by athletes for performance recovery and enhancement. Its uses seem endless and there is a multitude of scientific evidence to back it up!

As my journey continued, I was introduced to the incredible health benefits of PEMF Therapy and how it works synergistically with Red Light Therapy to amplify healing at the cellular and neurological level. (Read  our Staff bios here).

Discover Natural Relief with Red Light & PEMF Therapy

At Luminous Health Solutions, we’ve seen how powerful Red Light Therapy and PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Therapy can be — especially when used together. We invested in the best clinical grade, world class technology that works with your body to reduce inflammation, boost energy, and support brain and nerve health. We use a THOR targeted Red Light system, an ARRC LED Light Bed and a Swiss Bionic Omnium1 PEMF Mat with brainwave technology. These also come with complimentary Oxygen therapy and Brown’s Gas (AquaCure) therapy.

One big benefit of these therapies is that there are no side effects or contraindications! So you can use them even while you are on other medications.  PEMF and Red Light heal your body at the cellular level – symptoms start to subside naturally over time.

MS affects many parts of the body and can cause multiple symptoms including pain, fatigue, brain fog, cognitive issues, and mood disorders. Symptoms can improve by:

  • Lowering inflammation
  • Boosting cell energy and nerve repair
  • Balancing the nervous system
  • Supporting gut health.

How Red Light Therapy Helps

Red Light Therapy (also called Photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (630–850 nm) to stimulate the mitochondria — the “powerhouse” of the cell. These gentle, healing wavelengths target damaged cells and eliminate oxidative stress (inflammation) from the mitochondria. This in turn allows oxygen in – to create ATP (cellular energy) at optimal levels again. Details on cellular repair.

It can:

  • Improve energy and focus
  • Reduce inflammation and brain fog
  • Support nerve repair and mood
  • Help gut health (which is linked to MS onset & symptoms).

How PEMF Therapy Helps

PEMF Therapy delivers low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to your cells, helping them reset their electrical charge and improve communication — especially useful in nervous system conditions like MS.

It can:

  • Improve blood flow and nerve function
  • Reduce pain and muscle tightness
  • Calm stress and improve sleep
  • Help the body repair damaged nerves.

Why Use Both Together?

When used together, Red Light and PEMF:

  • Boost healing and reduce fatigue
  • Ease pain and stiffness
  • Improve mood, clarity, and sleep
  • Support the brain–gut health & connection.

Safe, Gentle & Effective

These therapies are non-invasive, drug-free, and suitable for most people — even if you’re sensitive to medications or touch. We tailor each session to your unique symptoms and goals.

The Latest Research

  1. Recent research (April 2025) has identified two gut bacteria—Eisenbergiella tayi and Lachnoclostridium—as potential contributors to the development of multiple sclerosis (MS). (MS-UK, PubMed).
For years, researchers have suspected a role for the gut microbiome in MS, but this new evidence is groundbreaking as it identifies specific gut bacteria that may trigger MS-like symptoms and highlights how these microbes could influence immune responses. We can influence and heal our microbiome with the proper food and supplements. Red Light Therapy also helps to restore the gut lining and increases “good” bacteria. Read more.
  2. A 2024 study using the experimental (EAE) mouse model, shows that Red Light Therapy exerts both anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects in the context of MS. Many positive benefits were documented. See study for details: Frontiers
  3. Shining light on the head: Photobiomodulation for brain disorders: This study describes the many benefits and mechanisms of action when Red Light Therapy is used on the brain.
